The new frontier is new nuclear energy innovation, and investment in this new technology could not have come at a better time. As population growth increases the demand for electricity, it’s critical we explore nuclear power as a clean, affordable and reliable solution. Fortunately, Idaho Falls is ahead of the curve and is seizing the moment.
The Carbon Free Power Project illustrates the promise of new nuclear energy. The CFPP is built on a partnership between CFPP LLC, an entity owned by Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems, and NuScale, a developer of advanced nuclear technology. NuScale’s technology is the first small modular reactor design to receive the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s certification, and manufacturing of the first reactor modules for the CFPP has already begun.
